TiVo Corporation

TiVo is the connected-TV brand inside Xperi Inc. Once synonymous with the DVR category it invented in the late 1990s, the company today is a smart-TV operating system licensee chasing scale against Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Google TV, and Vizio SmartCast. Its strategy is “neutral OS for OEMs” — licensed to TV brands that don’t want to build their own software stack, monetized through a content-first home screen, FAST channels under the TiVo+ umbrella, and a TV-OS ad business pitched to CTV buyers.

The corporate lineage matters for anyone tracking the platform. The original TiVo Corporation merged with Xperi in June 2020 in an all-stock deal that combined consumer-tech and IP-licensing assets under Xperi Holding Corporation. Two years later, in October 2022, Xperi spun the IP-licensing piece out as Adeia (NASDAQ: ADEA), leaving Xperi Inc. (NYSE: XPER) as the product company that carries the TiVo, DTS, and HD Radio brands. CEO Jon Kirchner has run that product business since the separation.

The OS rollout has been a patient grind rather than a viral story. Xperi has spent multiple CES cycles incrementally adding OEM partners (Vestel, Sharp Europe, Sharp’s U.S. arm, Argik in Japan), brand licensees (33+ TV brands across Europe), content partners (Crunchyroll, Cineverse, iHeartRadio, the NBA app announced at CES 2026), and ad-product surfaces (full-screen home-screen video, shoppable QR codes). The company’s stated target is to grow the TiVo-OS active footprint past 7 million users by end of 2026 — meaningful, but still an order of magnitude smaller than Samsung’s or LG’s installed bases. For ad buyers, TiVo OS is a complementary supply path inside the broader smart-TV-as-ad-channel thesis, not yet a primary one.
