# Privacy — The State of Streaming
> What The State of Streaming collects, how we use it, and your choices. Plain-language, GDPR/CCPA-aware.

The State of Streaming is a static editorial site. We don't require accounts, run ads, sell data, or build user profiles. We deliberately chose privacy-respecting infrastructure so that visiting the site does not set tracking cookies or send data to third-party advertising networks.

## What we collect

- **Server logs (Cloudflare).** Cloudflare automatically logs IP addresses, request timestamps, user-agents, and referrers as part of routing and abuse prevention. Retention follows Cloudflare's [privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/).
- **Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless).** We use Cloudflare's first-party Web Analytics for aggregate readership — page views, referrers, country-level location, device type. **No cookies, no localStorage, no fingerprinting.** Data is aggregated at Cloudflare's edge and never linked to an individual visitor. No third-party advertising or analytics scripts on this site.

We do **not** collect newsletter sign-ups, comments, contact-form submissions, accounts, or payment data.

## Cookies

**This site sets no cookies.** Confirmable in any browser's developer tools — the Cookies panel for thestateofstreaming.com will be empty.

## Legal basis (EU/UK readers)

Because we set no cookies and process only aggregate, non-identifying data, the GDPR's consent requirements for cookie storage do not apply. Cloudflare Web Analytics is designed to operate within GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA, and PECR without a consent banner.

## California rights (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under CCPA/CPRA. The aggregate analytics described above is the full scope of what we receive, and it is not personally identifying.

## Retention

Cloudflare server logs follow their published schedule. Cloudflare Web Analytics stores aggregated data; no individual visitor records are retained.

## Changes

Material changes are published here with a revised "Last updated" date. Minor edits — typos, link refreshes — will not bump the date.
